2010 ILF Worlds

The 2010 Organizing Committee for the ILF World Lacrosse Championships announced the launch of their site Thursday... It's www.2010worldlacrosse.com... the Worlds started out as a four team tournament with the US, Canada, Australia and England, but 30 nat'l teams are expected in 2010. A record 21 competed in '06.

Canada most recently won the title with a 15-10 victory over the US during the '06 Worlds. However, the Americans have won it ever other year dating back to 1967, with the exception of 1978 when Canada pulled off a 17-16 victory in OT. In '98, the US held off a late rally by Canada that included seven straight goals to force OT. That game ended 15-14 USA in double-OT. It was a sick, crazy game!

The early planning for the 2010 Worlds is promising considering the 2008 World Juniors has yet to do any marketing, and the '06 Worlds lost money. Hopefully these guys are starting to learn it's not difficult to market the fastest game on two feet with a little planning and effective marketing. Of course, FUJ will be at both the '08 World Jr.s and 2010 Worlds repping various National Teams. clutch.
