2008 WLA Entry Draft

The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) Draft 2008 was held on Feb. 12. It was an open draft, meaning the seven WLA clubs could select any player graduating Junior who had played lacrosse in B.C. over the past three seasons.

First round selections:
- No. 1 Joel Dalgarno Maple Ridge (NCAA D1 Ohio State)
- No. 2 Garrett Billings Langley (NCAA D1 Virgina)
- No. 3 Tyler Codron Maple Ridge (NLL Portland)
- No. 4 Mike Grimes Langley (NLL Edmonton Rush)
- No. 5 Dane Dobbie Coquitlam (NLL Calgary Roughnecks)
- No. 6 Calvin Craig Burnaby (NLL Edmonton Rush)
- No. 7 Peter McFetridge New West (NLL Portland)

Draft order in the WLA is based on a team’s performance in the prior year, so the last place finisher gets the first pick and so on. Teams can obviously make trades to also move up in the draft.

The BC Junior 'A' league is a major feeder to both the WLA and professional National Lacrosse League (NLL).
